In the area of ​​the lodge has the Correntoso River with a splendid ciliary forest, areas flooded all year, open field, capons, mountain ranges, bays and lagoons. A triangle formed by the Farms: Venice, Santa Martha and Santa Emilia, is the structure of the Araraúna Refuge Ecological Lodge, built in perfect harmony with the environment, inserted in one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal of Aquidauana, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. The three farms together form an area of ​​30,000 hectares where you can safely understand the meaning of the word Pantanal. The Eco Lodge is located in the former research headquarters of the University for Development of the State and the Pantanal Region, location where the Hyancith Macaw Project in the Pantanal began, an area of ​​preserved nature and rich in biodiversity.

Pousada Ararauna has an experienced and friendly staff that maintains the familiar atmosphere, a structure with comfortable private facilities, an open-air dining room, a TV room, a gourmet space with barbecue area, a wood oven and bar, an air-conditioned restaurant, a swimming pool, Sand volleyball, reception with work area fro guests, 02 airplanes, motorized boats, Canadian canoes, kayaks, 4×4 trucks for photographic safaris, horses, observation tower and the Pantanal’s newest attraction, the AMPHIBIAN CAR (only in this Pantanal´s farm you can find this type of vehicle). A positive point of the lodging structure are the 12 rooms be distributed in 05 different constructions (like a chalet), offering comfort and privacy to the guests. There are 04 houses with 02 suites in each and one more house with living room and 04 suites. The 12 suites, in addition to being large and nicely decorated, have a window screen and are equipped with split air conditioning, minibar, luggage storage and a private bathroom with hot / cold shower.

We could not fail to mention the excellent Pantanal gastronomy that you will find in Refuge Ararauna. The food is presented with plenty and whimsy, pleasing all kinds of palate, including vegetarians. Among the various typical dishes of the region you will be delighted by the good pantaneiro barbecue, “Arroz Carreteiro”-rice with dry meat, Paraguayan soup, dried meat in the moranga, baked fish, fried fish and fish in sauce, besides several vegetables and fresh vegetables, many coming from the own garden of the farm . The breakfast is rich in variety, with breads, homemade cakes, “Pão de queijo”-cheese bread, cold cuts, fruits, milk, coffee and natural juices. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner are included in the lodging.

The entertainment part does not leave to be desired, since the preserved nature is around the Pousada (inn) and area to carry out the tours do not lack, there are 30,000 hectares of pure nature. The tours are selected according to the wishes of each guest and are always accompanied by experienced guides and with great knowledge of the Pantanal. The groups are made up of a few guests guaranteeing better quality of the tours, since the guide can better pass the information and show the animals for everyone.

Usually 02 activities in Pantanal are performed per day, starting early after breakfast and later in the afternoon. It is also a nightly focus of animals which usually happens on the final part of the Jeep safari. The average duration of each activity is from 2 to 4 hours, varying according to the characteristics of each guest and the climatic conditions / season of the Pantanal wetlands.

The main excursions in the Pantanal offered at Pousada Ararauna are ecological walks through nature trails, horseback riding, motorized river boat ride, Canadian canoe or paddle kayaking, Jeep photographic safari (practically all year round, only if the flood is very large that this tour is somewhat limited), night jeep tour in the end of the jeep safari and the amphibious car ride (included only in the 04 night package). Certainly the amphibious car came to end the locotion limitation in the flood season, the amphibian goes anywhere and at any time of year, no matter if the environment is dry, soggy or flooded, certainly a phenomenal and unique experience. In addition to these tours it is still possible to take a panoramic flight through the region, however this tour can only be booked directly at the Pousada, not part of the regular tours included in the Ararauna tour packages.
