The Juma Floating Lodge is located 100 kilometers away from the city of Manaus. The Journey from Manaus to the lodge is done in four parts. Two parts are done by land and the other two parts are done by speed boat. The whole journey from Manaus to the Lodge takes about three and half hours and the last part to reach the lodge its done by speed boat crossing the forest exploring lakes and small tributaries.
The Floating Lodge is simple, basic and recommended for those want have an authentic experience in Brazilian Amazon Forest. The structure is built on floating platforms, perfect for the variation of the river water level in the Amazon. The rooms are small wich capacity up to 4 guests in each and are equipped with air conditioning, fan and private bathroom. In front of each room has balcony with hammock where guests can relax between one activity and another.
The lodge have meals room protected against mosquitoes where are served breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is tipical from the rigion, simple and well made. Rice, fresh fish, vegetable, cassava flour, fruits, milk, bread and other dishes are served during the meals.
Also there is electricity 24 hours a day in the lodge, so it is possible recharge batteries and other equipment.
Usually in the dry season between September to December, from the room´s balcony, it is possible observe dolphins or caymans stretching themselves out on the opposite bank river. Also is really good to go fishing for the delicious Peacock bass or Piranhas what can be prepered for your meal. In the rainy season it is possible to go paddling exploring the flooded areas when are bigger the chance to spot Monkeys jumping from one branch to another.
The Juma Floating Lodge offer some activities that are already include in the Amazon Tour Package. The main activities are: Hiking (jungle trekking), Bird watching, Dolphin watching, visit to the local people house (caboclos), Alligator spotting in evening, observation of sunrise and sunset, Sport fishing during the Dry season (peacock bass fishing), Piranha Fishing, spear fishing in the evening (Fishing with harpoon), Canoeing (paddling in the flooded forest) and Jungle Survival techniques. Also is possible send one overnight in the forest sleeping in hammocks like the local does.
