Day 1

Transfer from Campo Grande to Pantanal – Dinner at Hotel Barra Mansa

Pantanal tours from Campo Grande, we will assiste you at the airport and transfer to the Pantanal of Rio Negro (black river). In this tour package you have 02 options of transport to get at Barra Mansa Ranch: by 4×4 vehicles (some months of the year – dry season) or by airplane all year long.

The transport by 4×4 vehicles is a great adventure in Pantanal and an unforgettable trip; by land you will drive for about 290km crossing the Maracaju hills, grassland fields, forest, bays and rivers of Pantanal. Depending of the time of the year the trip will take between 05 to 08 hours. In the wet season is not possible get in the ranch by 4×4 vehicles because all the roads and tracks are flooded.

The transport by airplane is the main access to Barra Mansa and the charter flights provide a panoramic view of the Pantanal and are available to fly all year round. You can choose a flight directly from Campo Grande (around 01 hour flying) or fly from Aquidauana (2 hours by car + 30 minutes).

Check in at the Pousada and meeting with your local guide who will schedule all the Pantanal tours for the next days. The schedule below is just an example how can the distributed the activities day by day.

Day 2

Day Tour in the Pantanal – breakfast, lunch and dinner at Hotel Barra Mansa
Usually the activities are done early in the morning and late in the afternoon because in the middle of the day is very hot and really difficult to spot wildlife. Enjoy your free time to read a book, relax in a hammock and appreciate the nature sounds.
– Hiking takes place in the vicinity of the farm and in the woods, with typical vegetation of the Pantanal: ridges (cordilleras), woods (capões), flood plains and savannah environments that shelter animals and plants in the region. There are highly specialized field guides to assist you during the tour. Bird-watching is the highlight of the hiking and dozens of different species of birds can be spotted. In addition to the wide variety of birds that can be spotted in the Pantanal, hiking is a great opportunity to see capybaras, coatis, deer, peccaries and anteaters, due to the silent approach taken by experienced Pantanal guides. The ranch has several trails with varying distances, suitable for a variety of ages and abilities, but in general the hiking takes from 1 to 3 hours.

After lunch you go for a Rio Negro Boat tour – The winding Rio Negro presents a rewarding opportunity to observe the unspoiled nature on its banks. The boats have silent electric engine that do not disturb the natural sounds of the Pantanal. The Rio Negro is widely considered to be the best part of the Pantanal because it has no villages on its banks. During the tours, it is just you and nature. Calm and slow, the river acts as a refuge for the huge number of wild animals that benefit from the remoteness of this region. Along the beaches and riverbanks, you will find the perfect place to rest and experience the Pantanal’s exuberant and incredible nature. Depending of the season you can swing in the river or relax on one of the river beaches. The trip takes between 2 and 3 hours and can be done for all kinds of people.

Day 3

Day Tour in the Pantanal – breakfast, lunch and dinner at Hotel Barra Mansa
After breakfast you go for a Horseback ride in Pantanal filds – During it tour at Hotel Barra Mansa Pantanal you experience the activities of cattle management, horse-breeding techniques and calm rides through open fields, savannahs, forests, bays and salt-water lakes that serve as a backdrop for observing birds and animals through the wild wetland. If you’ve never ridden a horse before, this is the perfect place to do it. The horses are well trained, obedient and fitted with comfortable saddles, you ride on typical Pantanal wetland “arreios”, which are suitable for people of all ages. For people who likes horse-riding, the lodge arranges touring options that maximize the contact with the horses and the cowboy lifestyle.

After lunch you can relax in a hammock or talk to your local guide and make a list of all wildlife you saw during the tours.
In the afternoon you go for a Jeep Photo Safari – In this tour will be used a customized 4×4 vehicle especially for outdoor drives to explore the beautiful areas of Pantanal with some comfort. By “jeep” you can get in some areas that are difficult to access on a walk or by horse. It is a great way for you to explore the area if you come with children or have limited mobility. The sunrise is a show that can be admired from different parts of the farm. The safari takes from 2 to 3 hours.

Day 4

Transfer from Pantanal to Campo Grande – breakfast at Hotel Barra Mansa
Depending what time is your flight in Campo Grande and the type of transport you chose, maybe you have time to do another tour in the morning, like the canoeing tour. Canadian canoes are the best way to get in contact with the Pantanal waters and the surrounding nature. The canoes have seats for 03 people and the driving is easy, not require previous experience and can be done by people of all ages. The harmonious sounds of the Pantanal and its vivid life can be heard during canoe trips down the river. In some season the canoeing can be done in the clear waters of Vazante do Castelo (castelo’s creek) and you also can swing observing fish and aquatic plants.

We can drop you off at Campo Grande´s airport or in your hotel if you take the plane on the next morning.
